History of Haviland
FRENCH HAVILAND

The Haviland family has been engaged in the production of fine porcelain dinnerware in and around Limoges, France since 1842 when the family initiated this remarkable enterprise.

AMERICAN HAVILAND

Because of the second World War, French production of Haviland porcelain ceased. It was the only break with the French tradition in Haviland's long history. During this period, Haviland was manufactured in the United States. Such porcelain bears the identifying backmark, "Theodore Haviland-New York".
